Lake Cumberland is the place for partiers to flock to when the sun starts shining
Lake Trash is all about fun and friends and when it comes to taking the house boat out for a spin, Lake Cumberland is one of the best lakes to take to the open water. The lake is located in the southern most regions of Kentucky and is widely known as the houseboat capital of the world. It is also the largest lake in the country east of the Mississippi River. With three state parks, a few national forests and enough wildlife activities to keep you and your friends busy for hours, Lake Cumberland is a top spot for boaters in the United States. If recreation is something you are good at, check out this happening lake this summer. Here’s a little more info that may help you understand the regulations:
Don’t horse around at the boat ramps. While it’s okay to have a great time once you’re on the water, the officials here are pretty finicky with swimming and fishing around the docks and about people being in the boat while it’s being pushed into the water.
As far as overall partying on the lake, remember that this lake is a dry lake. This means that you cannot drink in public anywhere on the lake, or anywhere in Kentucky for that matter. Even if you are of legal age to drink you cannot openly drink on the water if other boaters are in your vicinity. If you want to take alcohol on the water with you, that’s fine but make sure you have it sealed, aren’t bootlegging it and aren’t drinking it in front of other boaters. If you become intoxicated while on the boat, stay in the cabin because you will be ‘in private.’ It’s better to stay within the rules at Lake Cumberland then to face the consequences. Most people just choose to use can covers to cover their beer cans.
The lake is so renowned among young boaters and Lake Trash enthusiasts because of the nature around them. This lake isn’t in a ‘busy’ area, so to say, but is instead located in a place where hunting and fishing is widely accepted. Camp out, spend the day on the lake and just enjoy life.
With more visitors annually then the Yellowstone National Park, Lake Cumberland is obviously a place boaters go for some fun in the sun.
