Lake Las Vegas is a 320-acre body of water in the center of the Nevada desert that is one of the premier party destinations in Las Vegas. There are several first-class resorts situated around the lake that make it a favorite stop for visitors to Nevada. If you’re looking for a good time, Lake Las Vegas is the place to be. Lake Las Vegas is located in Henderson, Nevada. Lake Las Vegas refers to both a man made 320-acre (1.3 km²) lake and to the 3,592-acre (14.5 km²) area built around the lake. The area is sometimes referred to as the Lake Las Vegas Resort.

The area includes several hotels and casinos including the MonteLago Village Resort, the Lowes Lake Las Vegas Resort (formerly the Hyatt Regency), The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Las Vegas, and Casino Monte Lago.

The dam that creates the lake is an earthen structure 18 stories high, 4,800 feet in length and 716 feet wide at its base. It contains roughly the same amount of dirt as Hoover Dam does concrete. the dam was completed in 1991.

Actor J. Caroton Adair conceived Lake Las Vegas around 1967 for Lake Adair. At the time he purchased the land and water rights. The property was acquired by Transcontinental Properties in 1990 from Ronald Boeddeker who had acquired 2,000-acre (8.1 km²) in 1987 from the US Government when Adair went bankrupt.

The lake was built on top of the Las Vegas Wash which continues to flow under the lake in two 96-inch diameter pipes. Water diversion begin in 1990.
