The Mississinewa River is a tributary of the Wabash River in eastern Indiana and a small portion of western Ohio in the United States. It is about 100 mi long. Near its mouth in Miami County, a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dam causes the river to form Mississinewa Lake. The dam was built for flood control in 1967. Mississinewa Lake has 3180 acres of water in the summer for fishing, boating, swimming and other water related activities. The lake is located in Wabash, Miami, and Grant counties in north central Indiana.

Scenic bluffs, rolling topography and lushly wooded areas encompass Monroe Lake in south-central Indiana. Lake Monroe is located about 10 miles southeast of Bloomington. The lake is the largest in Indiana with 10,750 acres of water spread over the counties of Monroe and Brown. It is also home to 13,202 acres of protected forest. Lake Monroe has three state recreational areas: Hardin Ridge, Paynetown, and Fairfax. Indiana's only federally protected U.S. Wilderness Area, the 13,000 acre Charles C. Deam Wilderness Area, is located on the south shore.
